"Mathematics is the alphabet with which God has written the universe." - Galileo

Every student must earn three credits in high school mathematics in order to graduate from high school. Because of the needs of an increasingly technological society, it is recommended that every student should study mathematics each year of high school, thus earning four credits. Students seeking to qualify for admission to Maryland colleges and universities should have credits in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.
